Turbo Tax did not consider the extension for 2023 Florida files affected by Hurrican till 5/1/2025

I submitted my 2023 tax return on May 1, 2025 because I am covered by the extension to May 1, 2025. When IRS reviewed my return prepared using Turbotax and send me the summary, it showed my refund would have been $1,637.98, but was only $180 per my Turbotax return because of decrease in

1. failure to file penalty $351.90,

2. decrease in failure to pay penalty $625,60

3. decrease in interest -$840.48.

what can I do to get this corrected?

Turbo Tax did not consider the extension for 2023 Florida files affected by Hurrican till 5/1/2025

For 2023 returns, Florida taxpayers who had filed a valid extension, giving them 6 extra months to file their return, were given until 5/1/2025 to file that return. So to start, you would want to make sure that you had a valid extension as the hurricanes that gave rise to the IRS's disaster extensions did not occur until after the original April 15th, 2024 due date. If you did, then you would need to reply to the IRS letter with proof of the filed extension and proof of being a FL resident. You may also be able to contact the IRS by phone to discuss this as well.
