Turbo Tax 2025 premier-problem with estimated tax calculations

I am using Turbo Tax 2025 Premier on a MAC.  I have tried doing estimated taxes for 2026 but each time I try it says that it cannot prepare vouchers because it assumes that the taxes paid for 2025 will be the same amount that will be withheld in 2026.  I have tried to enter my withdrawals for federal taxes for January and February but  that does not  fix the problem.  How do I not have the estimated tax worksheet and calculator use what I enter rather than assume the 2025 withholding amount?  This is a problem for federal and Minnesota state estimated tax calculations and vouchers.

Thank you!

I was able to prepare 2026 vouchers on my Mac using Home and Business.

You might try going back through the interview questions. The first question asks whether to use your W-4 or Estimates. Choose Estimates. After a few more questions, it asks "Would you like us to copy your current year wage information to next year?" Select No if you would rather enter the information yourself.

Thank you for the reply.  I looked for the question you said you had when doing the estimated taxes in the Home and Business version.  I am not seeing this question in Premier "Would you like us to copy your current year wage information to next year?".  I looked at the ES Tax Options and it shows a message saying that it is using the amount that I paid in withholding in 2025.  It then showed that amount in the form and I could not find a way to clear it or to override it.  Because of that, I could not get vouchers since the amount I paid in for 2025 is more that I expect to pay in 2026.  I am retired so I do not have a paycheck.  I do have voluntary withdrawals from my Social Security and my pension.  Cannot find a way to get around this problem in Turbotax Premier.  Any advice would be appreciated.

If you haven't already, try going into Forms Mode to see if the vouchers are there. The interview will tell you it won't print the vouchers now but will with the return. I found the ones I prepared.

If you locate the vouchers in Forms Mode, see if they have included dollar amounts. I am not able to right click in the field to change the amounts on the vouchers directly because they were calculated. However, if you select the ES & W4 Worksheet, it does allow you to make edits directly on the form for numbers that appear in blue (which were entered and not calculated).

You can also make edits on the Estimated Tax Options worksheet for items shown in blue. For example, you can change the checkbox for what you want the 2026 estimated taxes to be based on.

Turbo Tax 2025 premier-problem with estimated tax calculations

I've had the same issue this year - it's pulling in 2025 withholdings instead of what I anticipate to be withheld this year - it does appear to be a bug, however, I found a way to work around it.

When it asks if you want to copy w2 wage information - click "yes", just to get your old employer form copied.  (I'm retired too, so I clicked "no" initially.)

Edit the employer w2, and enter wages of "0", but expected federal tax withholding of what you anticipate having withheld from other sources this year, such as taxes withheld when pulling retirement funds.

If you get an error that withholdings can't be more than wages, you might have to edit it on the form - that's where I found this option - its the "ES & W4 Wks" form in the Wage Income Section.

However, I couldn't get it to work on the form without first clicking "yes" to copy w2 wage information over.

Hope that helps!
