Make sure that you are signing in to the same account you used to file your tax returns. Some TurboTax users have multiple accounts. How do I access a prior year return?
Here's how to find out which TurboTax accounts are linked to your email address:
If you have multiple TurboTax accounts, pick one and stick with it when you do future tax returns. That way we can automatically transfer your tax info over year after year. It also makes accessing your prior-year returns much easier.
Just paying the fees does not file the return. Did you continue on and go all the way through the File tab, through the 3 steps and hit the big orange Transmit Returns Now button?
For the Online version check your efile status here
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile. Accepted only means they accepted your return FOR Processing. Not that your return is right.
When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc. what does it say?
AND...if you used the Online softwre..it is critical to note that You and Your Son, must have and maintain entirely separate Online accounts.
If you filed his in your Online account, then used the same account to prepare and file your own tax return, then you destroyed his and overwrote it with your own.
Only the desktop software allows users to prepare multiple tax files using the same set of software.
