Trying to get my taxes done

Hi, so I haven't had any issues with filing my taxes this year except for one thing. At the very last step when filing, I always choose the free edition, but this time it wouldn't let me, saying I had no option but to purchase the max edition because of the recovery rebate credit. When clicking on the payment option it also says that I cannot pay the fee with the tax refund that I am receiving. I am not sure what is exactly happening, and I would like to understand.

i cannot tell you what is causing this, but you do not have to upgrade to MAX to get the recovery rebate credit and there should be no reason to pay with your refund if you are using the Free edition.  This might be some strange computer error.  Use a Windows computer and the Chrome browser and clear browsing data for all time before logging on.  Is this possibly a Mac computer with old operating system?
