I'm trying to e-file and it's stuck at the PIN/birthdate page. It keeps saying I need to enter PIN or birthdate, which I have. I have included my info as representative for my mom, but it keeps choking and sending me back to enter a PIN or birthdate. I've used Turbotax for my taxes last year and had to use a PIN to file those. Do I need to use that PIN or the one I just made up? VERY ANNOYING!!!
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Finally figured it out. The PIN needs to be 5 digits, but it doesn't say that ANYWHERE! The AI chatbot finally said that when I asked it a bunch of questions. Everyone else uses 4 digit PINs and that's what I had entered.
You should be using her information, such as state ID or driver's license, PIN, borthdate, etc., since it is her return and you're just filing it on her behalf.
I tried using her birthdate and a PIN it said I could make up, and it didn't like that either. She didn't have a PIN as she never used TurboTax before. According to other posts, I need to sign it with my name and PIN/birthdate.
Correct but you should be able to self-select a PIN.
Didn't like that the first time, which is why I went back and entered my info as a representative.
That's two strikes. Any more info as to how to make this work?
No idea why TurboTax won't accept that. You can screen share with customer service I believe.
