It is automatic based on your age. It is not part of your Standard Deduction. The new Senior Deduction is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e. The 6,000/12,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b with any other sch 1-A amounts. Turbo Tax automatically includes it if you qualify. If you are married you have to file a Joint return.

You do not need to enter it anywhere. TurboTax will automatically calculate it based on your date of birth and your income. There is not a special section or box to check. Just enter your correct information and TurboTax will take it from there. If eligible you will find this on Schedule 1-A Part V and line 13b of your form 1040.
For Tax Year 2025 through 2028, seniors may claim an additional deduction of $6,000 per taxpayer over 65. This is NOT a refundable credit. This is a deduction of your income.
This bonus deduction is ONLY for those over 65, it does not apply to those who are blind and under 65
