TP/SP link error turbo tax will not process the person that I choose to link to?

We are having a similar problem.  On the form "Person on the Return" for a dependent student, what is "TP/SP Link"? It has not autofilled and we can't find even a description on any linked forms. When I use the arrow on the form it zooms to select either of the parents to link to, but doesn't give the dependent student's information form as an option.

Spent 45 minutes on the phone with Turbo Tax today with that exact issue and could not get it resolved. Looks like I am going to have to mail in instead of e-file because it will not allow me to e-file with that error.

After trying to research this issue online since no help has come from TT, it's apparent this is a significant software error. One which actually prevents core functionality (completing and submitting taxes online) for what is paid for.  We've gone over our taxes interview section by interview section, form by form, and consulted online forums and IRS pubs, but no solution has been illuminated, just the lack of a solution (and id'ing it to a TT bug.)

TurboTax Support:  Printing taxes and mailing a paper copy is not  an acceptable alternative. This is a priority issue that needs a real fix asap. Pri1 bug.  Please advise as to when that will be (as in, the next few days).

I'm experiencing same issue - unable to efile return with error on the "person on return" dependent 

TP/SP Link will not populate and prevents ability to efile.  This is not even a form that is submitted with efile.  Please resolve asap.

I am having same problem.  Filing by mail is not an option.  This needs to be fixed ASAP or allow to bypass.

I'm seeing the same issue.  I paid the $25.00 to submit online my State taxes and now it is saying it can't because of this error.  If I remove the Person on the Return worksheet, it doesn't calculate 529 withdrawal correctly for Postsecondary student (assumes elementary or high school student).

Need a solution from TurboTax ASAP!

I see the Taxpayer link briefly flash, then it's gone. The "People wks" did not exist in TT 2024. If this does not get fixed by 4/15, you can file for an extension that gets you to 10/15 filing date. Making your estimated payment using EFTPS automatically gets you the extension or mail 4868. Hopefully the problem will be fixed before then.

The Person on the Return worksheet is summarizing the info entered in the Personal Info section for each person on the return.  The TS/SP link at the top simply points to the parent on a dependent worksheet.  If your dependent is a student, make sure that is indicated in Part I, Student Status.  If not, return to the Personal Info section interview to indicate that in the interview. 

This should not prevent Efiling, as it is a worksheet and was designed to help prevent 'check this entry' errors.  If you can share more details, we'll try to help.

Dependent Wks form is complete and filled out, associated Student Wk form is filled out and has dependent specified as a student for 2025 - High School (Secondary).  People Wk for dependent has blank TP/SP Link that will not populate.  Form flags this as an error, if you try to efile your return it requests that you fix this error before filing.  If you try to bypass the error and efile anyway it will not let you.

In FORMS, scroll to the People Worksheet that is causing the error.  When you click on the TP/SP link arrow at the top, a pop-up should ask you which parent you want to link the dependent to.  Select one and choose 'Link'.

I had the same issue. 

I believe mine was caused by a 529 transfer for a minor (1099 Q). 

I don't know what Intuit recommends, but I:

1. Went into the forms mode by pressing the button in the upper right.

2. Found the "unfinished" document at the bottom of the list.

3.  Deleted it.  A new version appeared to be auto generated. 

4.  Although probably not necessary, I went back to step by step mode, then to the dependent section, edited the minor in question just to make everything looked ok.

This cleared the error, nothing changed.  It allowed me to file.

and it will regenerate without the error
