Top of screen says my federal refund is $1,184, but when I go to file, it says I'm only getting $656. Why?

I'm also due $508 from state. The above is strictly federal.

$656 is the net of the two, assuming you OWE state $508. This is shown just FYI.

The maybe you OWE Federal $1,184? Look at the actual tax forms.
