If you provided more than half of your Mother's Support during 2016, and she did not make more than $4050.00 during the year, you can claim her as a dependent. As a dependent you will receive an exemption of $4050.00 and it is possible that you qualify for the Child/Dependent Care Credit if you incurred caregiver expenses to allow you and your husband to work, or look for work, while she lived with you.
