To prepare W2s or 1099Misc you need to use the Online Self Employed version (formerly called Home & Business) or buy the Desktop CD/Download Home & Business program.
To prepare W2s or 1099Misc in the Self Employed (formerly called Home & Business) Online version, look on the Welcome Back screen on a return already started. Then down below under Manage your Return clicked on "Create W-2s and 1099s." This takes you to Quick Employer Forms…..

If you are already signed into your return, After entering your Personal Information, Go to My Account and Save and Sign Out. When you log back in, and you'll be at My TaxTimeline. Click on the orange button: Take me to my return. To the left of the screen, you will see Manage Your Return. The last option will be Create W-2s and 1099s and you will be brought to Quick Employer Forms.
In the Window's Home & Business Desktop program you can prepare W2s or 1099s two ways, either online using QEF Quick Employer Forms or locally on your own computer with the built in Reporter.
Click the big blue button to Start a New Return or go up to File-New Tax Return.
Then on the next screen it asks What would you like to do?
If you get a screen with 2 choices, Check the second circle that says Prepare W-2s and 1099s for my employees or contractors. Then that will expand and give you a choice to prepare them online or on your computer. See this for more info…..
