To file as common law or not

I'm in a tricky situation. Until last year, I was on a scholarship from my home country which didn't allow me to legally marry a Canadian citizen or to apply for PR or citizenship through them. I have been living with my partner for 2 years, but our finances are separate. We have been filing as single because my Dad does my taxes and he doesn't know about my partner and I needed to keep it that way because homophobia. However, I am on my partner's work health plan as their common law/spouse since 2023. Now I'm worried that we HAVE to file as common law this year and mention that we were common law since 2023 at least. If I do that, my family will blow up at me and I will be sent back to my home country and won't be able to live with my partner. Is there any way for us to not file as common law? Are we screwed? Thanks.
