Does it matter which name the system is trying to add the 1099r?

To credit the 1099-R to your name, you can follow the steps listed below:

  • Log in to TurboTax Online, or open your TurboTax CD/Download program
  • Click Take me to my return
  • Click Federal Taxes
  • Click on Wages & Income
  • Choose Continue, and I'll choose what I will work on, if offered
  • Locate Retirement Plans and Social Security
  • Then, in that section find, IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R) and click Update/Revisit
  • On the next screen you will click to Edit the 1099-R that you need to change
  • The following screen will ask you to verify who the 1099-R belongs to.
  • You will click the circle beside of the name of the person that the 1099-R is for. I have added a screenshot below for reference.
