There is an amount in my Tax History Report for Tax expense that looks wrong. How can I figure out what makes up that amount?

We cannot see your return or account here, as this is a public forum. What is the heading/title for that section?

In Forms it is the Tax History Report.  Tax expense is a line item.  I cannot figure out what populates that.

Tax expense on the Tax History Report is the total tax deducted on Schedule A. This may include real estate tax, personal property tax and state and local income taxes, including amounts withheld from your wages.

My return does not have a Schedule A (pretty basic return) so I cannot look to that Schedule to figure out where the amount is coming from.  Thanks, any other suggestions?

Are you looking at Other Income Taxes in the tax summary.  This is sometimes confusing.  This number has no direct affect on your tax return.  If you select the Learn More tab it will say:

Other income taxes include most federal, state and local taxes paid. This includes:

 - Taxes you paid with your 2019 federal, state or local extension.

 - Taxes you paid with your 2018 state or local extension.

 - 2018 federal, state and local tax refunds that you applied to your federal, state or local 2019 taxes owed.

 - State and local taxes that were withheld during 2019 but not reported on Form W-2, 1099, W-2G, etc. For example, state and local taxes that were withheld when you completed a real estate transaction.

- Taxes paid with your 2018 state and local returns, including with an extension, amended return, or through an installment plan.

 - State and local taxes you paid with your 2018 or prior year return. For example, you were audited or you recently filed a 2017 or prior year state or local return for the first time.

 - Other state withholdings during 2019. For example, you had money withheld during escrow on a real estate sale and received a Form 593, Real Estate Withholding Statement.
