I am single w/no kids and want to increase my allowances from 2 to 4 on my W-4. Do I just lie and say I have two kids? I get a refund every year but I want to break even.

The W-4 you give your employer does not dictate how you have to file your taxes.  If you choose to claim more exemptions on your W-4 in order to have a bigger take-home check you can do that.  Be careful--if you have too little withheld you could end up owing at tax time.
