No one can fix your big mistake for you. We have no access to your return. Online is only for 2025 returns. You cannot use online for a 2023 return. You will need to clear out the 2023 information you entered online and use the account later for a 2025 return.
You cannot change the tax year. The current online program is for 2025 only. Only a 2025 return can be prepared online and only a 2025 return can be e-filed.
Online preparation and e-filing for 2022, 2023, and 2024 is permanently closed.
Note: The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac. It cannot be used on a mobile device.
To file a return for a prior tax year
If you need to prepare a return for 2022, 2023, or 2024 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign, and mail the return(s)

You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.
Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.
Refunds for tax years 2021 or earlier have been forfeited and will not be paid to you even if shown on the tax return form. But if you owe tax due, you will still have to pay, and you will be billed later for the interest and penalties owed. TurboTax will not calculate the penalties or interest. That will be done by the IRS/state after they receive your return with your payment of the tax due as shown on the tax form(s).
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

Did you efile it or not?
If you did not mistakenly efile it with the wrong info, then this information below does not apply to you.
Or did you already actually efile the return with the wrong tax year info? If so, that is a big problem. If accepted, the IRS would consider that to be your 2025 return. So if you did efile it, and if it has been accepted, that would mean you would need to prepare an amended return 2025 Form 1040-X to correctly change it to 2025 return info.
If you recently efiled, and have not yet received the results of the efile, then you should hope that the efile is rejected. That would be your easiest path out of this situation.
