The tax owed to NYS is incorrect. $21,919 (Fed AGI)-$8,000 (standard deduction) does not equal $24,319 (taxable income). How do I get this fixed?

It's not that simple. Did you receive Unemployment Comp in 2020?  New York has yet to adopt the federal government’s exemption on the first $10,200 in unemployment payments,  so you need to add that back to your Federal AGI.

$21,919 + 10,200 =  $32,119

$32,119 - 8,000 = $24,119

NYS also has a number of other additions and subtractions.

Ah! That makes sense! Thank you!

It's also confusing because, I tried it out on H&R Block and it calculated the NYS taxes with the federal exemption on the first 10,200. So, if NYS hasn't adopted it yet, I wonder how long that would take.
