The "Options" under "Sales info" only has "Sold" and "Expired". How do I enter the leg of the Butterfly spread as Buy to Close since there isn't this option?

I'm using the Self-Employed software. It's asking me to review all of these legs before I can file, but I've been choosing "Sold" since there isn't the "Buy to Close" option. I don't want this to trip an audit.

First, continue on and see if TurboTax will let you do that.

A lot of the flags raised  on 1099-B are just warnings.

if you buy to close that means you were short.

TurboTax is going to complain if you try to enter the Date Sold before Date Acquired.

To close a short, enter the date you closed the trade as Date Acquired.

for options, which settle in one day, Date Disposed is one business day later.

Stocks settle in two business days.
