Are you filing a joint return? If so, both of your names should be in My Info already before you even started entering anything about a dependent child. What are you trying to do?
If you are not the parent(s), the child is not your biological, step, adopted, or foster child, then when asked "Who do you support?" you would answer/select "Another Person." That selection will lead to a different set of questions in the interview.
You will not be putting in the names of "Legal Parents" if they are not you or your spouse who is listed on your tax return.
As @xmasbaby states, only your name and your spouse's name if a joint return will show up when selecting/claiming "Your Child."
If you clarify your situation someone may be able to provide more specific advice for your situation.
