You could go to this screen and make your choice from the "Do-it-yourself" options on the far left.

I just started my TurboTax for 2025 and the second screen was tempting me to enroll in Expert Assist. There was no button to say NO.

 

I called Customer support, [phone number removed]. Fought my way through the computer voice to get to a real person, Jerina.

I explained the problem, and the answer was that everyone has to sign up for Expert Assist.

Jerina emailed me a refund code to enter when I file my taxes.

Jerina promised that when I file, there will be a place to enter this Service Code to get a full refund on the Expert Assist.

 

I suggest that everyone call [phone number removed], fight your way past the computer voice, and ask for a service code to refund the cost of the Expert Advice.
