The data I entered so far in my account is for tax year 2015. How do I delete and start over for 2016 and can I file previous years with turbo tax and, if so, how?

It's not clear on your site what year I am entering tax data for. One of the first questions that pop up should be: "What year are you filing?"

Only one tax year is available if you are using the online program and currently that's tax year 2016.  I don't use the online version so I can't comment on your recommendation, but if it's not obvious to you that you are working on whatever is the current tax year, then it certainly should be since lots of people make the same mistake you've made.

At this point you can only prepare a 2015 or earlier income tax return using TurboTax by buying one of the "desktop" versions that you install on your own computer.  You can get these programs directly from TurboTax

but you also can get them, probably more cheaply, from a variety of online and storefront retailers.

FOR 2016:  You can use your Online account to do this year's 2016 return but you will need to clear out your 2015 entries and start over for 2016.  Or abandon this online account and start a new one.
