The $88,884 of tax you're supposed to pay is adding $87,250 of total taxes before credits and $1,634 of other taxes you have to pay. How is $1634 calculated?

To know for certain what Other Taxes are being included, you need to take a look at Form 1040 Schedule 2 lines 4 through 9.  There are several different taxes that could apply and be included as Other Taxes.

Some examples include:

  • Self-employment tax from Schedule SE
  • Unreported Social Security and Medicare tax
  • Additional tax on IRAs, other qualified retirement plans, and other tax-favored accounts
  • Household employment taxes from Schedule H
  • Additional Medicare tax
  • Net Investment Income tax

Thanks for response. I do not have any such unreported income and not sure from where turbotax has arrived at that number.  Is there any way to reach Turbo tax tax consultants on specifics or should I just rely only on community?
