The 1099 MISC and the schedule C is the same program. I tutor for the Campagna Cenert but as an independeant contractor so am I suppose to list it twice under income

No.  If you received a 1099-MISC for this income, then you enter it just once.  It will populate to the Schedule C. 

To enter/edit a 1099-MISC form:

• Open (continue) your return if it's not already open.
• Click on Orange box “Take me to my return” (if shown).
  
• In the Search box (top right-hand corner), type “1099-misc’
• Click on the Magnifying Glass icon or hit Enter.
• Click on “Jump to 1099-misc” link high-lighted in Blue.
• Answer the Step-by-step instructions.
