My taxes were refused. I reviewed them and found a couple of mistakes. I fixed that and all is well there, but I had already mailed a check to the state, overpaying.

That happens. When the state receives your return and processes it, they will note how much you owe. When they receive your check they will note that you overpaid, and will refund you the difference.

That happens. When the state receives your return and processes it, they will note how much you owe. When they receive your check they will note that you overpaid, and will refund you the difference.
