The IRS does not acknowledge receipt of mailed tax returns. If you mailed it by a service that provides tracking, such as certified mail, the Postal Service tracking is your confirmation that the IRS received it. If you are expecting a refund, check the status with Where's My Refund? on the IRS web site.
Did your dependent originally file without checking the box to indicate that he can be claimed as a dependent, and then file an amended return to correct it? Even though your dependent has filed an amended return, the original error might still delay the processing of your tax return.
And...you mailed your tax return. Remember that it takes at least four weeks for a human at the IRS to even open your envelope. Once the return is entered into the system, you can track your refund on the IRS refund site.
Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
