Taxation for a remote role

Question I have is that I am evaluating an offer for a company based in NYC. I will continue to live and work from Seattle. They don’t have a Seattle office so I will be remote.

As I understand if I am associated with the NYC office, I still need to pay NY state taxes due to the convenience rule.

My employer also has offices in Texas and California. If I get associated with one of those offices can I avoid the state taxes then? Texas has none and California does not have the convenience rule.

Taxation for a remote role

You are correct that the New York convenience of the employer rule for remote workers would apply.  If your employer can base you out of the Texas or California office, you will be able to avoid the nonresident income tax for New York.
