I must have deleted the .tax2023 file once my taxes were filed (I have checked everywhere) and I saved the document in PDF form. But now I'm screwed, as there's important info that needs to be transferred to 2024. Would it work if I changed the PDF file into a Word doc with .tax2023? Help is much appreciated!

You really need to transfer from the .tax2023 file. The pdf only transfers your name, ssn, address and AGI. Not the details. You can't change the pdf file anyway into a .tax2023.
How did you do 2023? Did you use the Online version or the Desktop program and Windows or Mac?
If you used the Windows Desktop program. Find your Tax file in Windows

Here's an idea. Do you still have 2023 installed? Try opening 2023 program and see if you can get your 2023 return to show up in it. Go to FILE - OPEN. And see if that is the right one.
In the 2023 program do a File-Save AS and give it a easy name you can find or search for. And note where it saves it or select where to save it so you can find it again. The file will end in .tax2023. Then close the 2023 program. Then start a new 2024 return and transfer from the 2023 file.
Are you on Windows 10? That can move files to different spots like to One Drive. Or to Drop Box. Could it be under a different user on your computer?
Don't know if this will help any Turbo Tax users but one Quicken user found them......
What I found was that my Quicken Data files ended up in the One-drive Recycle bin. Not sure how, but I found them there. I placed the files back onto the laptop and brought the files into Quicken and now have all my data back.
Another user said……Some people have discovered their files were under their administrator username. They didn't remember that they had to log in with administrator privileges at some point when installing the desktop version, so they started their returns and saved them while using their admin user account. (In this case, people were returning and logging into their usual, non-admin user account, not realizing what happened and not finding their files under their primary "user".)
Other ideas……..

All good tips. Unfortunately, none have worked. It's all on me. I didn't save the .tax2023 file. Lesson learned. Thanks for trying to help.
