I filed my taxes on 1/20th. The turbo tax app has an “oops” error but does show that turbo tax sent my returns 1/20th. Problem is the irs has no record of receiving the transmission. Nobody at turbo tax can tell me what’s going on. The agent did say that if I filed with another software the irs will accept whichever is received first and just reject the second one. Does anybody know if this is true? Thinking about filing with someone else but don’t want to cause any red flags on my return
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Once your return is filed, TurboTax has no control over the processing of your return or the release of your refund.
What does Where's My Refund say?
When will I get my federal tax refund?
I understand that but the irs is showing that I haven’t even efiled as of yet. I efiled on 1/20th. They should have record of it 24 hours after you efile per the IRS agent I spoke to. I know I filed early but at this point they should have record of my return.
Are you sure you are entering the correct filing status and refund amount? You want to use your full federal refund amount, not the amount after fees.
Yes I am. I also logged into my irs account that keeps all tax records and it specifically states that my 2024 return has not been received
Yes. What your friend said was true. The IRS will not accept a duplicate return. You can safely send another
return. If it rejects, then you will know that the first one was filed. Make sure the preparer knows the situation so he or she can check to see if the return was accepted or rejected. If you are using a home tax program, like TurboTax, then you can check the status. That would be a good first step.
Please call TurboTax Customer service. Ask them for your Declaration control number (DCN). When you get that number you can call the IRS and give that number to them and they can tell you the status.

Unfortunately turbo tax doesn’t have an It department only tax experts and nobody over there that I’ve gotten a hold of even knows what that means. This is just insane. I’m just going to file with H&R Block moving forward.
We are looking into this issue for you. Someone from TurboTax will be calling you to discuss your issue.
I’ve been told that by a few tax experts over there who claimed to have opened a ticket and said they’d reach back out to me. I’ve gotten several emails saying my case is closed but there’s no resolution. I’ve never gotten a call back. At this point I’m just going to efile with H&R Block today because this is just ridiculous
Just for the record it’s been 2 weeks I have no heard from anybody with any type of resolution and the irs still has no receipt of my taxes. Turbo tax has just completely screwed me up and it’s crazy that nobody there has any clue what’s going on. There’s no IT department to talk to about transmission issues only tax experts who keep telling me different answers and say they’re opening cases but nobody follows up. At this point I recommend anybody reading this use a different company to file their taxes
Is it possible u need to reverify if u do they will send a letter that's what I'm waiting on.
I’m not sure what you mean by reverify. I know nobody at turbo tax could tell me what was going on. I called the irs they said they show no record of it being submitted and to go ahead and refile, so I did. I used H&R Block and now the irs has my refund and is processing it.
That's good that they retook your taxes when I meant reverify they send a letter with a code to enter on the IRS website to make sure it's you and not a fraud return
Oh okay, I never got any letter from them. When I go on the turbo tax app it gives me an “oops there’s an error try back later”. Turbo tax should have an IT department because all their “tax experts” could tell me was that it had been sent over and to keep checking the where’s my refund page. Which is silly because it shows up on that website within 24 hours of efiling. Either way, im just glad the IRS has record of my accepted return. I just did it last week so we will see
