Hi All,
My aunt passed away Dec 2021. Her only income was SSA-1099. She had no husband or children, just nieces and nephews. I am her nephew (Personal representative) . I went to file her return and it shows $0 refund from the state. In all the years prior she would always get a minimum $1200 back from the State of Michigan and $0 from Federal. Why is it that I am getting a $0 refund from the State? Did I do something wrong in the forms or is it because I'm not a spouse of child that I don't qualify? She has a basic return, nothing complicated, just SSA-1099 for income, no IRA, no pensions, no property (she lived in an apartment).
Thank you

She may have gotten the homestead property tax credit in previous tax years that may not be on this year's return for her.
She may claim this credit if she meets the following criteria:
If she meets all of the above requirements, Form MI-1040CR, Homestead Property Tax Credit is available in TurboTax. In the state section of her return, you should see the Homestead Property Tax Credit on the page Take a look at Michigan credits and taxes towards the end of the state interview.
I'm sorry for your loss.
