Tax Deadline Extension for Flood Victims in CA.?

So, I live in one of the counties in CA that qualify for the tax deadline extension this year of May 15 due to the floods that took place. I see there is a code (140) to enter for CA. when filing to determine this, but is there something that needs to be done for Federal filing so the IRS knows it would be after the April 18 normal deadline and not penalize me?

No, you do not need a code for the federal return.  You only need a code for your state return because not all states adopt the rules established by the IRS.

for those that have already filed and have a pending payment dates already scheduled, what are our options?  Are we able to change the payment due date given this extension being granted by the IRS?

Tax Deadline Extension for Flood Victims in CA.?

Assuming you are referring to the IRS deadline for tax payments due, please review the information below to see if this answers your question

The IRS automatically identifies taxpayers who reside or have a business in the covered disaster areas and applies for filing and payment relief. This means if you qualify for this relief, you don’t need to request an extension of time to file or an extension of time to pay. Affected individuals will have until October 16, 2023, to file their 2022 individual income tax returns and pay any taxes that are normally due on April 18, 2023. Business taxpayers will also have until October 16, 2023, to file certain business tax returns that are normally due on March 15 and April 18, 2023. The postponement will be granted automatically. However, please note this relief doesn’t apply to all of California, Alabama, and Georgia.

If you reside or have a business located outside the covered disaster area but were nonetheless affected by these storms, you should call the IRS disaster hotline toll-free at 866-562-5227 to see if you are eligible for this tax relief. You should also call the IRS disaster hotline if you have questions about whether you qualify for this disaster assistance.

If you are an affected taxpayer and you receive a late filing or late payment penalty notice from the IRS that has an original or extended filing, payment, or deposit due date that falls within the postponement period, you should call the telephone number on the notice to request that the IRS abate the penalty.

Tax Deadline Extension for Flood Victims in CA.?

Thank you so much. So, in my case does my brother, who lives in an effected county to qualify, have until Oct. 16 to file a 1041 form because I am being told he has until May 15 and if he can't then he needs to file an extension that allows him to file by I think September 15. I think it can't be Oct. 16 for a 1041 from because that gives me NO time to file a K-1 if I were to also file the last day on Oct. 16. the 104 generates the K-1 form.

Yes, this is what I was referring to in my question.  My county has been identified, so I know I qualify for the extension.  My question is more pointed to Turbo Tax, as I have already filed and scheduled my payment through Turbo Tax.  With this extension being granted, how to I amend my payment scheduled date through Turbo Tax?

Once your e-filed return has been accepted, it's too late to update your bank account or change your payment method in TurboTax. Instead, call the IRS e-file Payment Services right away at 1-888-353-4537 (They're open 24/7).
