Turbotax has calculated my taxable income correctly in line 11b of 1040. The tax amount in line 12a, however doesn't match what it should be based on the tax table (https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040tt.pdf). For obvious reasons, I do not want to disclose my taxable income here. Has anyone else experienced something like this?
By the way, there is also an error in the Federal income tax withheld from Forms W-2 and 1099 (line 17). That number doesn't match the sum of what is in the various W-2's and 1099s.

It depends on what kind of income you have, if you have capital gains or qualified dividends the tax on line 12 is not taken from the tax table but is calculated separately from schedule D. The tax will be calculated on the Qualified Dividends and Capital Gain Tax Worksheet. It does not get filed with your return. In the online version you need to save your return as a pdf file and include all worksheets to see it.
To check withholding on line 17 you need to go back and check each W2 box 2 and 1099 box 4. Is line 17 too much or too little? What kind of 1099? Do you get any Social Security? You can have withholding on that.
That helped me solve the mystery. Thank you.
Check the "Tax payments worksheet" lines 10-20 to see the withholding.
