Study Abroad Program fee

My Daughter went overseas to take 6 credit hours with an affiliated nurse program/school. Tuition was charged by my daughters school and paid with scholarship. There was a program cost 0f $1850 where do I report this on my taxes. I took out money from daughters 529 for this trip

I'm assuming that there was no payment for the trip shown on a 1098-T.

If the trip was paid with a distribution from a 529 account and was an education expense, there would be nothing to report.

Enter the 1099-Q and answer that the funds were used for education expenses. there would be nothing more for you to report.

In fact, if that was the only distribution you made, and it isn't taxable, you needn't enter the 1099-Q.

According to the IRS

“Generally, distributions are tax free if they aren't more than the beneficiary's AQEE for the year. Don't report tax-free distributions (including qualifying rollovers) on your tax return.”
