Stock Proceeds and Cost Basis for Sold stock

Hello,

I imported some stock/dividends from a brokerage account. It appears that the cost basis was missing (due to a transfer or brokerage accounts).  It looks like approx 10 shares were sold and the proceeds are $2.31 and it asking me for the corrected cost basis.  Questions:

1. Are the proceeds reported (box 1d) the total proceeds from the sale of the 10 shares or calculated as a single share, i.e., the reported line of $2.31 is per share?

2. Is the cost basis based on a single share or do I need to multiple the single share cost basis ($1.26) by the number of share sold ??

This is not clear in the instructions.

Stock Proceeds and Cost Basis for Sold stock

If 10 shares were sold, the Proceeds on the 1099-B are the total for the sale of the 10 shares.  Your broker info should state the number of shares sold, even if not directly stated on the 1099-B.

Yes, if 10 shares were sold, and you paid $1.26 per share, multiply that by 10 for your Cost Basis.

Here's more info on How to Enter 1099-B
