State Wage for Student Bonus Payment

I was a student from January-June in South Carolina. I received a taxable signing bonus in February (while living in South Carolina) for a job I started in September (after moving to New York). All of my income (including signing bonus) shows on my NY W2 form. Should the signing bonus be allocated to South Carolina since it was paid when I was a resident there? Or should it be on my NY form?

State Wage for Student Bonus Payment

It is New York income.  It is also taxable by whatever state you were a resident of when you received the bonus, prior to moving to New York.  If you were attending school in South Carolina as an out of state student, you would report the income in your home state.  Your resident state will tax the bonus income, as will New York.  You will receive a credit for tax paid to another state on your resident tax return so that you aren't subject to double taxation.
