Turbotax reports an error on my Montana state return because the excludable income from US Treasury interest exceeds the total amount of interest income reported on my Federal return. That is due to the Treasury interest being correctly reported as a dividend on a 1099-Div (which is still excludable in Montana).
How do I fix this?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
IF that's true, then you'll have to get a diagnostic file submitted to Customer Support....they'll tell you how:
What is the TurboTax phone number? (intuit.com)
_____________
It is also possible, this has already been reported. Software updates are usually available on Thursdays, but not today (so far). Check for a software update tomorrow and see if the same error exists then.
____________
Also, double-check the $ amount you indicated that was US Govt interest on the 1099-DIV form.
IF you missed hitting the decimal point, the $$ entered might be too large. The $$ amount you enter for US Govt interest, cannot exceed box 1a on the same 1099-DIV form.
Thanks, SteamTrain. Will do. Have already triple checked the amount entered, and it was correct
