Started with self-employed version of turbo tax and need to be using the personal & small business version.....can I switch without having to start over?

What do you need?  The Self Employed version is the same as the Home & Business version.  Just a new name this year.  The Desktop program is still called Home & Business.  Do you want to buy the Desktop CD/Download program instead of using the Online version?

Do you need to file a separate business return?  Turbo Tax Business will not do a personal return.

Thanks....cant find where to enter self employed 401k contributions....only see IRA/RothIRA...the directions on how to do it from the online answers seem to refer to prior version of TT as I am unable to do/see the steps they suggest

Yeah, the Self Employed version has 2 different navigation flows.  Until you enter expenses you see a federal tab at the top.  When you start entering expenses it switches to having a Personal and Business tabs instead of Federal tab.

Use the Search box.  Type in "self-employed retirement".  Clicking on "Jump to self-employed retirement" it should take you directly to the Self-Employed Retirement Plans screen.

That is the program you want ... they change the name this year from Home & Business to SE but it is the same exact program.
