standard deduction being used instead of itemized

The program tells me it is using the itemized deduction as my best option but then uses the standard deduction when calculating. A glitch I guess?

How much are your Itemized Deductions?  The questions I've seen turn out that the Standard Deduction + the extra 300 for charity is more than your Itemized Deductions .  Check 1040 line 10b.

Line 10b = 300.

Schedule A line 17 = $12,526

Well if you are Single the Standard Deduction is 12,400 + the 300 on line 10b is 12,700 which is more than your schedule A.

So it is weird that the program tells me the itemized deduction is better deal, then uses the standard. That is confusing and should be fixed.
