Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

Something went wrong, it was asking me questions about my son and then it said your son does not qualify as a dependent. Yes he does, he is 6 years old.

How do I change this? When I click on go back it doesn't allow me to change it, it says something like, sorry, try again next year. But he is our son this year, so it needs to be changed.

Click on My Info on the left side of the online program screen.  Delete your son as a dependent, then re-enter him as a dependent.

There is no where it allows you to remove dependent. They must have updated the layout, it used to be there. I have gone all the way back and looked.

Please select "My info" on the left side-bar under 2025 TAXES.

Continue to the screen titled "About your household"

If your son is not listed, select "Yes" under "Do you have any dependents?"

Next enter the number of dependents, if you and your spouse only claim your son, select 1.

The next screen should list your information. If your son is not listed, add him here.

Be careful answering the interview questions, read them twice before answering.

There is one question that asks "Did the child supply more than half their own support?" and the answer must be "No" if the child is your dependent. (The child DID NOT supply more than half their own support.

@mshine148306 If there is a dependent listed in the My Info section of the program, click on the Dependent's name you want to remove and then click on the Delete button.
