I have a 2025 Schedule K-1 (Form 1065) and supporting cost basis information to report the sale of 'my partnership' shares in a PTP.
In TT Deluxe, I quickly ran into multiple questions while attempting to input the K-1 info and report the sale as follows:
1 My shares were purchased at two different times and with different cost per share. TT allows for one purchase date prior to entering the sale information. Does TT allow for additional purchase dates? If not do I choose on date and average the purchase price per share?
2 On the 'Enter Sale Information' page:
a) There is a 'Regular Gain or Loss' and 'AMT Gain or Loss' column.
Do I duplicate information for both columns?
b) What is considered the 'Sale Price'? Information I have is the Total Cost (original cost) and Proceeds (distribution of sale) which include Capital gains.
c) From online TT discussions it appears 'Partnership Basis' would be 0, is that a correct assumption?
d) There is no property involved so would 'Ordinary Gain' should be 0?
e) There is no property involved so would '1250 Gain' be 0?
Thank you in advance.
