Hi All.
We just went through Hurricane Helene and realized we are completely unprepared. I'm going to buy some backup batteries and solar panels. I don't plan on wiring them into my home just using extension cords for the fridge and freezer .Does just purchasing the panels and batteries qualify for the tax credit?
Thanks for any input.

The solar system must be installed and operational to receive the Residential Clean Energy Credit
The solar panel system must be "installed" to the house and provide power to the house. Under the revised IRS section 25D (after the Inflation Reduction Act), a battery system qualifies if it is "installed" to the house, and has a capacity of at least 3kWh. I don't believe a temporary extension cord set up will qualify for either credit.
