Should withholding from sale of RSUs appear on my W2?

My W2 lists ~$360k in box 1 (wages, tips, etc), of which ~$190k is RSUs and the remainder is salary/PTO/bonus/etc.

In box 2, I have ~$80k listed. However, I know that this is incorrect: looking at my etrade history I see that ~$70k worth of RSUs were sold for withholding. My understanding is that this should have been remitted to eBay who then send it to the IRS and include it under box 2.

That doesn't appear to be the case: the $80k looks and sounds correct for the withholding on my non-RSU income, but there's no way it covers the withholding on my RSU income too.

This makes me think there's been an error somewhere. Does this sound correct, or is there somewhere else I should be looking for the additional withholding?

The $70K of withholding covers both State and Federal so not all of that should show up in Box 2.

I'll bet you $100 and give you odds that eBay got it right.  It's hard to know how much "regular" (i.e., non-RSU) withholding should have occurred since that's a function of your W-4 but $80K on $170K GROSS income sounds WAY TOO HIGH.  That's a 47% withholding rate on GROSS income.

Check with your payroll department.
