It depends. The rule is that you must pay your taxes as you go and the 1st Qtr federal estimated tax payment is due April 17, 2018.
The need for estimated tax payments is that if at filing time, you have not paid enough income taxes through withholding or quarterly estimated payments, you may have to pay a penalty for underpayment.
