Should the total income amount be less than amount entered?

Should total income for refund be less than the total income entered in the beginning

What lines on the 1040 are you asking about?

I entered gross and taxable amounts correctly but at the end when showing refund amount the total income is less.  Is that correct for it to be less

I still don't understand what you are looking at.  Your refund or tax due won't match your income.   Basically it works like this......

You enter all you income.   Then Turbo Tax subtracts the Standard Deduction to give you the taxable income.   The Tax is figured on the taxable income.

Then your withholding and any credits you qualify for are subtracted from the Tax giving you a refund or you owe more.

Before filing,  You can preview the 1040 or print the whole return.  What lines don't you understand?
