Should my return show a 500 dollar other dependent credit when my son is 19 years old and is making over $4100 per year ?

Yes, if your son was a full-time student in 2018.  Students can be claimed on your tax return until they turn age 24 regardless of their income.  Also, yes, if your son didn't turn 19 until this year.  For tax purposes, your child's age is his age on December 31, 2018.  If your son qualifies as your dependent, you will receive the $500 ''Other Dependent'' tax credit.  

A non-FT student child over 18 can only be claimed as a dependent if they earned less than $4,150 in 2018.

Was he 19 in 2018?  Was he a full time student in 2018?
