Should I include interest from a state tax refund and if so where does it go in turbo tax.

I received a form OMB No 1545-0112 from Pennsylvania for interest as a result of a tax refund.  It shows a dollar amount in box 1.  This is not a 1099.  Where and how do I include that amount in turbo tax?

You will report the income in the Interest and Dividends section of your return.  Whether or not you received an actual Form 1099-INT or just a statement showing the amount you received, use the following steps to go to the section of your return to enter your interest income as if it were reported in box 1:

  • On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)
  • This opens a box where you can type in “interest income” and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)
  • The search results will give you an option to “Jump to interest income
  • Click on the blue “Jump to interest income” link and enter your information

OMB would seem to indicate it's an IRS refund - interest for being tardy in issuing your refund. just that it came from PA office region rather than TX region
