What? You can not file now at all. Why do you think Turbo Tax is saying to file for $0? What year are you trying to file?
Do not use your paystub to fill out the W2. You need to use the actual W2. Your paystub won't match the W2. There are several items that affect the amounts. Most people that use the paystub have to send in an Amended return later. If you don't have your W2 ask the employer for another copy.
See this post for efile dates
The TurboTax website states you can FILE your tax return for $0. Meaning there is no charge from TurboTax for using their software to assist you in completing and filing a tax return. That is it, nothing else.
You still must report all of your income on a tax return before it is filed.
Turbotax is "free to start". If you prepare a simple return that meets certain criteria, then it is also free to finish and file. (If you have more complicated situations, you may be required to upgrade to a paid version of Turbotax.). But you can't file any tax return for any service charge until you have all your required documents. And when you do file, you must report all your income, deductions, dependents and credits on one tax return.
You apparently do not understand. You must be seeing the $0 fee for using TurboTax Free Edition. That does not mean you can file a tax return without a W-2 or entering income. The $0 just means you do not pay to use that version of the software. It does not in any way mean you file with zero income.
Only the simplest returns can be prepared using Free Edition. There are extra schedules that can be part of the tax return Form 1040. If the information you enter requires the use of any of those schedules you have to upgrade to a paid version of the software.
If you qualify, there is another full-featured free software program that becomes available in mid-January.
But whatever you try to do---do NOT try to file a tax return without entering ALL of your income on the same tax return form.
If you qualify to use it, there is another full-featured free version of the software:
Try Free File:
You qualify if your income was $36,000 or less, or $69,000 or less if active duty military, or if you qualify for Earned Income Credit

Please be careful about being in too much of a hurry to file your next tax return. Many tax forms are not available at the very beginning of the tax season, so you have to wait for your forms. The software still needs updates at the beginning of the tax season.
Although the software will allow you to e-file in early January, the IRS does not begin to accept the e-files until almost the end of the month. So your return just sits on the server. If you realize that you made a mistake or left something out—as many people do—you cannot change it.
Every year we see people who are in such a rush to file that they file incorrectly and incompletely. If you file too early and leave out a W-2 or a 1099, or forget to enter information, you will end up having to amend your tax return---and that takes months. Employers have until the end of January to issue W-2's----and ALL of your 2020 W-2's have to be on the same tax return. Many of the 1099's and 1098's you need do not arrive until late January or sometime in February. If you are getting Earned Income Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit, the IRS is going to hold your refund until the end of February no matter how early you file. There seems to be a greater chance of "early" returns being reviewed and those refunds are delayed, or early returns are more often subject to identity verification--which will also delay processing. Filing too early may just be a recipe for a delayed refund. It might go more smoothly for you if you wait until at least mid-February to file instead of e-filing during the first minute that you can do it.
If you qualify AND if you wait until mid January THEN you can use one of the 10 IRS FREE FILE options to file a fed & state return for free ... but you must be patient. https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free
IRS Free File is closed for the 2020 tax season. Check back in January for Filing Season 2021 opening details.
For Filing Season 2021, you must make $72,000 or below to use IRS Free File partner offers.
