Short Period Returns

I need to do a short period S Corp return for 2024. I already did 2023. I want this filed before the end of 2024.  I can create another file in 2023 but can I use the same federal ID number?  I know I will have to put in all the 2023 numbers by hand for Schedule L, is there anything else I have to worry about?

Yes. Why would you not use the same EIN for this return? You also must use the same EIN.

Regardless, you can use the 2023 software at this point, but you will have to make manual corrections to the tax forms and schedules with respect to the beginning and ending dates of the tax year.

You will have to print and mail the return.
