Shares Traded for Taxes Withheld

Hello,

I've entered my RSU information, including cost basis, date acquired and sold. At the end of my Review, I get to a page that asks for Shares Traded for Taxes Withheld. I can't figure out where to see this information. I've looked at my transaction (Fidelity) and my 1099B but don't see that specified anywhere. Where would I find this?

Often when RSU are awarded, some of the stock awarded are sold immediately to cover the tax you'll incur on the stock award.

Shares traded for taxes withheld would be reported on a 1099-B for a trade you never received cash for. It might have been done through your employer.

Thank you for your reply.

To confirm, on my 1099 there's a column that says Federal Tax and State Tax Withheld but it shows $0.00. Would that be where they would show?

I tried entering 0 shares withheld on TurboTax but it says value must be greater than 0.

It depends. However the actual numbers would come from your employer. If you are trying to figure out how many shares were sold, it would seem you would take the amount of proceeds and divide it by the sales price per share to know the number of shares. You can check the stock price for the day of the sale to figure out the number of shares.  The article below may be helpful.

I wanted to update here.
I was able to find the information in 1099B supplement information page. My main 1099B page doesn't have any cost basis information, but supplement information page has the information which I have to enter. Thanks to Turbo tax support team. I connected with the support team and during discussion we were able to figure out.
