I have long term shares that sold for $0 which is worthless. My proceeds was $0 and cost basis was $2000. However, Schwab did not issue a 1099-B and told me to check box F Long-term transactions not reported to you on Form 1099-B, however, I just found out on my tax return boxed "E" stating "Long-term transactions reported on Form(s) 1099-B showing basis wasn't reported to the IRS" was checked instead of "F" which says " Long-term transactions not reported to you on Form 1099-B" Should I file an amended return to correct this error?

wait to see if you get a notice from the iRS. if you took the loss your taxes aren't going to change. if the IRS does inquire a simple response saying sorry show have been type F rather than the reported type E should do.
Thank you for your prompt response
