Yes, it can be. If your scholarship income was more than your qualified educational expenses, then the amount that is greater than the expenses is taxed as regular income.
Be sure to enter all of your education expenses such as books and required course fees (even a new laptop if it was required for school) to minimize the amount that is taxed.
