Schedule A not current as of 2/10/2022

The system won't let me e-file apparently because Schedule A Deductible Home Mortgage Interest Worksheet is not current and not scheduled for an update until after 2/17/2022. The current form has all of the info needed. Why can't I e-file? How will I be notified when the updated schedule is ready so I can file?

@purkeydan You cannot e-file because all of the necessary information to e-file is not available.  When all of the necessary forms have been finalized you should be able to submit your return.  It is quite a complicated process and requires significant time.  There is not a notification system on this issue so you will need to check back after February 17, 2022 to see if you will be able to file at that time.

Thanks for the reply. The form is a worksheet. My understanding is that worksheets don't need to be filed with paper submissions. Is this a different rule for e-filing? Seems odd, assuming I'm correct about filing with paper.

Even if you selected File By Mail, you won't be able to print and file until the Schedule A has been finalized.   You are correct that the worksheet doesn't get mailed in.   The worksheet is also not part of your e-filed return.   But the Schedule A is; so if you are reporting home mortgage interest, the worksheet is a necessary piece of your Schedule A.    The Schedule A uses the Deductible Home Mortgage Interest worksheet to calculate your mortgage interest deduction.    No returns using that worksheet can be filed until its accuracy has been confirmed.   We communicate with the IRS and state tax agencies daily to ensure all forms are accurate.    As of today, the worksheet and therefore the Schedule A containing a home mortgage deduction, can't be used to file by mail or e-file.

@Cynthiad66 I am having the same issue. It’s 2/18 and it’s still not fixed. What is the latest update on when this will be resolved?

I (originator of the issue) also just checked and it isn't resolved yet. So, same question. When is the expected resolution date?

The Deductible Home Mortgage Interest Worksheet in the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions does NOT have a Do Not File on the worksheet.  There is no reason why you cannot use this worksheet with your tax return.

Have you updated your software to the latest release?  Click on Online at the top of the desktop program screen.  Click on Check for Updates.

Yes, I checked for updates and did update. I still have the error message that the form isn't available, but will be after 2/17.

I agree it doesn't need to be filed, but that's not what the system is demanding. I have the downloaded version of Deluxe.

This is quite annoying and delaying refunds longer.  I refinanced this year.  Samne company even.   Stioll cannot send in my return as a result of this blocking error.

@Cynthiad66 @DawnC @DoninGA  what is the latest ETA on when this will be resolved? “After 2/17” is not an ETA. TurboTax already charged my card and now it won’t let me file. This is huge. We need daily status updates.

@DoninGA @DawnC @Cynthiad66 Just checking in on this. What is the latest ETA on when this will be resolved.

No ETA on the worksheet update.  However, there may be a workaround available depending on your situation.  Would you clarify your mortgage loan situation?  For example, do you have one loan under the $750,000 principle limit that has just been refinanced or sold resulting in multiple 1098s?

Yes. I have a loan that was refinanced under $750K. Also, the standard deduction is what I use anyway. Could I just not report the refinance and eliminate the whole issue, since that doesn't help me get over the standard deduction?

Yes.  If you are planning to take the standard deduction, you are not required to report your itemized expenses.
